I myself will cast my mind back to 1949,that was the year I entered
Hilton grange,i left this wonderful HOME from HOME in 1956.
Three bros Ronald--- Tony---Rodney,are surnames were for a while
were TULLY. Then in 1952 it was changed to Ellington.
WHY,god only knows, the grange did not.
The following staff, made me what I became----- Mr and MRS farrer.
A number of wonderful sisters,ie sister maude, sister Lilian, sister Nancy,
and so on, Mr Falkingham-- Tressie foster--- Nancie longbottom---
Olive Matthews,---- And last but not leased--- Mr and Mrs Berry.
Mr Eaglestone the Principal--- a bit distant, but still a gentleman.
                                       All the workmen,and many more.
The children----- Eddie Brierley,Alan Lumsdon,All the LIGHT Sisters.
My Black mate and his sister---Maxwell Williams----Frankie Green,
[ was Frankie mad, or clever  ]. the Caldwell bros, one I took a dislike
The one man I would like to say a few words aboutis----- MR SWANN.

Dear bros and sisters,and staff.
I and my three bros were in the Hilton grange, from 1949 to 1956,the first
house we bros were in was Mr and Mrs Farrers.
Great Great cook was mrs farrer, great one for decent advice was Mr farrer.
                One statement,mr farrer uttered,was the following,IN LIFE---Always remember
you are as good as the next person, BUT never forget, you are NO BETTER.
Oh are name, first three years was Ronald, tony, rodney, ELLINGTON.
Then after a short turse interview, with MR eaglestone, the homes PRINCIPAL.
The surname s was TULLY.At the age of 71yrs of age,i still recollect, walking
out into the dark cold winter evening, snow on the ground, going back to
Mr farrers house thinking WHO AM I.
but the grange was SAFE,LOVED,CARED FOR,A COCOON  AWAY FROM
THE OUTSIDE WORLD,at a very young age which to this day im grateful
for------------- THE STAFF HAD LOVE IN THEIR D AND A.
                                             GOD BLESS RON

Hi, my names Beverley Ann Brearley. I went to Hilton Grange Children's home 1975-1980. Can anyone remember me? Would be nice to hear from old friends i went there with. I have 7 Children, 6 girls 1 boy and 15 grandchildren. If you do remember me you'll probably associate me with Steven Todd.

THE NCH RECORDS
Since 1869 NCH has cared for tens of thousands of children who spent all or part of their early lives at NCH homes in England, Wales, Canada and Australia.
ACTION FOR CHILDREN (The new name of the NCH) holds, in the strictest confidence, personal information on most people who lived in an NCH Home.
Carolyne,

Who can get access to personal records?
Knowing who you are and where you come from is important to everyone.
NCH has always been happy to share information with anyone who requests it, and because we are committed to openness and recognise the importance of family identity we are very happy for former residents to have access to any personal information we may hold concerning them.
This information is also available to surving relatives of a child that was in care.
